Hastings Barnstorm

May 21, 2017 at 6pm - 7:30pm

The Printworks 14 Claremont,
America Ground,
Hastings, East Sussex TN34 1HE,
United Kingdom,

In Hastings and Rye, Home Secretary Amber Rudd might have a majority of nearly 5000 votes over Labour, but once you count votes for Greens (who have stepped aside) and Lib Dems, we’re within a hair's breadth of victory.

Come together to overcome tribalism and explore how to connect directly with voters about why this election is so critical for the future of our country.

Labour candidate Peter Chowney will join us to explore what a progressive alliance could mean for political engagement in Hastings and Rye. We’ll also hear from Green Party candidate Julia Hilton why Greens made the tough decision to make way for the Labour candidate.

We’ll ask how and why to engage those who don’t support any political party, we’ll find out what’s going on more broadly across East Sussex, and we’ll help find actions that feel right for you personally - without asking you to hitch your wagon (/hoist your barn?!) to any party.

Modeled on the highly successful organising rallies of the Bernie Sanders campaign in the U.S., barnstorms are all about kick-starting a bottom-up movement that can scale up rapidly and achieve extraordinary results.

Facilitated by volunteers from Compass, we’ll explore how to get people working together across party-political boundaries for the greater good.

Come earlier to Rock the Vote https://www.facebook.com/events/375163442879683/

and to join us on a voter registration drive around Hastings, departing the Printworks at 12:30 and 15:15. Please join us!
